3. Taste the love
In 1996, Linda and Chris Behr of Oso Libre Winery purchased 90 acres of raw land on the Westside of Paso Robles. Slowly, they developed the land and turned it into a sustainable, modern working ranch replete with alpaca, sheep and cattle, that hosts over 25,000 annual visitors. Their love story has become a true dream come true for their entire family (the kids are also involved in the ranch and winery). Allow your love story to collide with theirs at Oso Libre Winery’s upcoming Valentine’s Day Winemaker Dinner. Looking for more pink passion? Rotta Winery’s 2018 Syrah-Grenache Rosé is a flirty blend of bright nectarine, strawberry, rhubarb and peach. No wonder, Rotta sits on some of the finest grape growing soils in the famed Willow Creek District of the West side of Paso Robles and is part of the Mendoza, Argentinean Budeguer Family wineries that have an environmentally conscious approach. Fredrick Bizzotto is their winemaker who crafts unique and unforgettable wines that are fresh, vivacious, modern and very impressive.
Been a while since you’ve taken the time to cook together? Stop by Rangeland Wines and pick up an incredible cut of beef to prepare with love (and sip lots of wine while doing so). The winery’s estate raised, natural grass-fed beef is always dry aged to perfection, so you can expect a truly memorable meal together. Although you can pick-up this marvelous meat locally at J&R Meats in Paso Robles, it’s more enjoyable to pick up your selection at the Rangeland tasting room, where you can sip a lineup of high caliber wines.
Another fave of ours is Iron Oaks Winery. They offer locally raised, damn good, sustainable beef from owner/winemaker/cowboy, Doug’s family ranch that you can pickup at the tasting room along with bottles of sumptuous wines (plan on playing a few rounds of hilarious “Shoot the Boot’). From their land to your plate with quality you can taste. And you know what they say: Couples who grill together, stay together!
