Mapping and Directions to RoTTA Winery

Description:

One of the three oldest wineries in Paso Robles, RoTTA was established in 1908! Rich in history and tradition, RoTTA today is a boutique winery focused on creating some of the best wine with a true sense of terroir from some of the oldest Cab and Zinfandel vines in San Luis Obispo County. RoTTA Winery is located in the famed Willow Creek District of the West side of Paso Robles.

Legendary winemaker Christian Tietje joined the team in 2015 and while paying homage to the past, Christian has created wines that are approachable, sophisticated and timeless. Our sister winery in Argentina, Bodega de Budeguer in Mendoza, allows for collaborative winemaking and guest experiences which embraces both cultures.

A visit to RoTTA includes stories steeped in the Paso Robles Wine region overlooking the oldest cabernet vines in the county while exploring the bright influences of the future including Christian Tietje’s unconventional blends and delicious estate single varietals.

RoTTA wines are available exclusively in our tasting room.

Our History:

– RoTTA is one of the three oldest wineries in Paso Robles, with Epoch (York Mountain before) and Turley (Pesenti Winery before)
– In 1908 Joe RoTTA migrated from Italy and acquired the vineyard and winery
– During Prohibition RoTTA produced sacramental wine for local churches as well as grape juice.
– December 5, 1933- What Happened- Hint: It was a Great Day! The Repeal of Prohibition and RoTTA Winery was back in business.
– RoTTA is home to the oldest cabernet vines in the region and some of the oldest zinfandel vines.

Our Sister Winery in Argentina:

– RoTTA is now owned by an Argentinian family
– RoTTA has a sister winery in Mendoza (Argentina), Bodega Budeguer. Mendoza is a great wine region of Argentina. FAMOUS for Malbec.
– RoTTA´s winemaker, Federico Bizotto, is from Argentina.
– We are also exporting our old vine Zinfandel to Argentina… It is truly a blending of cultures and our mutual passion of wine!

Our Boutique Style:

– RoTTA features small lot production with very high-end winemaking practices- at most 250 cases of any particular varietal, and many of them sell out.
– RoTTA´s wines are not available to the public other than in our Tasting Room and through our Wine Club.

Varietals:

Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Rosé, Malbec, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Bordeaux-Style Blends, Zinfandel Port and Black Monukka.
