Surprise! We’re all about shaking things up. You know what they say about judging a book by its cover. Making assumptions rarely leads to good results, and isn’t it so much better to expect the unexpected? In Paso Robles Wine Country, we like to think far outside the box. As winemaking pioneers with rebellious roots, we thrive on the road less taken! Our wines are bold and singular—so why shouldn’t our tasting rooms also be? With more than 250 totally unique tasting rooms to choose from, we can promise you one thing: no two tasting room experiences are exactly the same. Case in point: These 5 diverse tasting rooms designed to blow your mind.
Surprise! Wine without the frills: Iron Oaks
Fussy, prissy, pinkie in the air vibes? Not around these parts! Iron Oaks Winery is more like a laid back, country-styled clubhouse than a tasting room—although you’re sure to bound taste exceptional wines while you’re here. Kick your feet up and mingle with the locals over something delicious. A favorite among cowboys, chefs, bikers, and travelers alike, this no-frills joint offers up approachable, relatable, yet totally stellar wines that that soar above and beyond all expectations. Try one of their small-batch, limited blends with a side of DD Cattle Co. beef. This is how Paso Robles wine was truly meant to be enjoyed: with a whole lot of love and without an ounce of pretension.
Check it out: Howdy, friend! No reservations required, and that’s a promise.
Surprise! Real food served fresh: Parrish Family Vineyard
Tiny plates of elf food that barely satisfy an ounce of your hunger? Nah. Instead, feast on this! Those measly tasting room crackers are no match for Parrish Family Vineyard’s spread of delectable edible offerings. Bring a full appetite to this epic tasting lounge, where you can nosh on a seasonal summer menu featuring such stars as roasted tomato-zucchini flatbread, a killer B.L.T.A. But did you know that Robert Hall Winery is booking nationally touring acts with mega-talent this summer? Everyone from Grammy nominated Larkin Poe (watch their concert at Robert Hall here) to celebrated songwriter Mat Kearney (with five albums in the Billboard Top 200; three in the Top 20 list) are known to grace the screen for Robert Hall’s popular Pairing Notes Music Series. Catch Kearney on Instagram Live on Sept. 23 at 5pm PT and enjoy an excellent pairing of top notch music and world class wine. It truly is music to our tastebuds.

Surprise: Booze on the wine trail: KROBAR Distillery
Wine, wine and more wine? As much as we love our cabernet sauvignon, Paso Robles is known for more than just its luscious grapes. Just stop by the KROBAR tasting room and ask for a flight (just be careful, it might be a little stronger than you’d expect). Savor the unique opportunity to sample a lineup of incredible craft spirits you won’t find anywhere else in the world, including several fine whiskeys, Kaffir lime vodka, pink gin and even navy strength golden rum! With two locations in Paso Robles and San Luis Obispo, you’re never far from your next cheers-worthy cocktail. Happy sipping!
