Proposals, surprise parties, rainbows: some of the best things in life just seem to come out of left field! In Paso Robles, every day is the start of a brand new adventure and you, as the leader of your own story, get to jump on board and enjoy the ride. Planning your trip is great, but here’s a little advice from us to you: Stay open to the mysterious gifts this world class wine region has to offer and you will come away delighted. Random, shocking, fabulous—call them what you will. Let’s just say these inventive wineries are redefining what it means to “drink Paso.”
Anarchy for all
A little chaos: Pretty oak trees, soft music, quiet chit-chat—how about nah? There might be 200+ wineries in Paso Robles, but there aren’t any wines quite like those on offer at Anarchy Wine Co. With genre-blasting bottles that snarl at the status quo, you’re in for a lineup of what winemaker Christian Tietje lovingly calls “big ass wines.” Dive head-first into strikingly pure varietals, mind-blowing blends and—always, an open invitation to get a little weird. Yep, this is one virtual tasting you won’t soon forget! See you in the mosh pit.

Plot twist
The next chapter: Ernest Hemingway famously said: “my only regret in life is that I did not drink more wine.” Don’t let this horrible fate befall you! Head to Ernest Hemingway Vineyards, the kind of place old adventurous Ernie would have loved. With robust reds, bright whites, celebratory sparklings and an extensive menu of farm to table food—including pizzas, pulled pork and baked pastas—you’ll have a whole lot to write home about!

Can it
Cold ones to go: Wine in can? Oh yes they did! Don’t believe us? Head to Wines of the West, where several wineries commingle under one welcoming roof. Sample Alloy’s canned sangria, gruner vetliner, chardonnay or red wine blend and you’ll never think of a six-pack the same way again. Whether your Paso adventure includes hiking, picnicking or a day at the beach, you’ll be glad you came across these palate-pleasing and totally portable wonders. Hot tip: Also located on site, find Clayhouse Wines, Purple Cowboy, and If You See Kay, which produces genre-busting wines that are rebellious, to say the least.

The new old fashioned way
A tale as old as time: What’s old is always new again, in fashion and in wine. In fact, sometimes pulling from the past is the freshest way to stay relevant in an ever-changing world. At Straight Out Of Paso, the wine offerings deliberately reflect the classic varietals that once put Paso Robles on the map (cutting out the fat, so to speak). These folks aren’t messing around: you’ll enjoy only the classics: rich cabernet sauvignon, stellar Rhone varietals and, of course, Zinandel, the grand-daddy of all Paso grapes. No funny business, no fluff. ‘Nuff said!
