Guides, Things To Do, Tin City

Embrace Fresh Flavors in Tin City, Paso Robles Dynamic Makers Hub

  • January 28, 2025
  • By Hayley Cain

Forget the yellow brick road—in Paso Robles Wine Country, the path to liquid gold is paved with corrugated metal. Welcome to Tin City, a shimmering wonderland where wine country dreams are poured fresh daily.

Like Dorothy discovering Oz, first-time visitors find themselves transported to a technicolor world where tasting rooms serve boutique wines freely, Michelin-starred cuisine shares space with artisanal ice cream and every turn reveals a new adventure.

Named for its tin siding, Paso Robles’ Tin City has evolved into wine country’s most dynamic artisanal district, home to 40+ businesses including boutique wine tasting rooms, craft breweries, cheesemakers, distilleries and restaurants. This industrial creative hub represents a fresh take on the Paso Robles wine scene, where innovative makers push boundaries and break tradition in daringly delicious ways.

Why Tin City Hits Different

Tin City’s industrial backdrop sets a refreshingly modern stage where you can chat with winemakers fresh from the vineyard, watch pasta artisans hand-making the night’s special, or sip experimental hard ciders alongside the bold brewers who crafted them. It’s wine country with the stuffiness stripped away, leaving only the good stuff. Let’s get at it!

Your Perfect Day in Paso Robles’ Tin City

The beauty of Tin City is in choosing your own adventure! Whether you’re a wine lover, a craft beer connoisseur or simply up for something totally fresh and new, start here:

Greet the Day at Proof and Gather

Fuel your Tin City wanderings at Proof and Gather Artisan Baked Goods & Coffee Bar. Try the locally-loved Brekkie Sando — a masterpiece built on housemade sourdough English muffin with eggs, bacon, cheddar and a splash of hot sauce. For lighter fare before hitting the tasting rooms, try the Central Coast Toast, where local Central Coast Creamery chèvre meets sweet berry compote and a finishing drizzle of olive oil. Stock up on fresh pastries (including vegan and gluten-free options) for your upcoming adventures. Open Wednesday-Sunday 9am-4pm.

Local Tip: Time your arrival just right and you might snag one of Proof and Gather’s legendary cinnamon rolls gooey from the oven (with flavors like mixed-berry and maple coffee). The aroma alone will lead you right through the front door!

This Way to Field Recordings Wine

Your Tin City wine journey begins at Field Recordings, where a colorful mural proclaiming “Drink Field Recordings Wine — This Way” beckons visitors into one of Paso Robles’ most happening wine spaces. Climb the stairs to discover an old-school gym transformed into an urban wine bar, complete with vintage lockers housing their diverse selection. Here in Tin City, winemaker Andrew Jones celebrates fresh flavors with zero pretension, sourcing from unique vineyards up and down the Central Coast.

Local Tip: Have burning questions about your Tin City adventure? The knowledgeable Field Recordings team can map out your perfect Paso Robles wine tasting route based on your tastes. Their all about local knowledge and time-honored techniques!

Savor the Art of the Blend at ONX Wines
