It might be forever sunny and warm in Paso Robles, but we still enjoy the change of the seasons! In Paso Robles Wine Country, the vines are turning beautiful shades of orange, red and gold—a reminder that it’s time to wrap ourselves in sumptuous fall flavors and pairings. Like a crackling fire pit under the stars, a fuzzy cashmere sweater on a brisk sunset stroll or the comforting scent of pumpkin bread baking in the oven, some things just send us into a reverie of Autumnal bliss. Whether you explore our more than 250 wine tasting rooms this fall or just cuddle up in your living room with a glass of red, we’re thankful to be celebrating this time of year with you. Let’s make the most of it!
Chronic Cellars 2019 Love Machine
Meet your newest love affair: A romantic blend of 78% grenache, 17% syrah, and 5% mourvèdre, Chronic Cellar’s cozy fall “GSM” has Paso Robles written all over it: rich and intriguing but totally approachable, you’ll find this spicy red blend pairs fabulously with luxurious charcuterie or an everyday snack plate (read: whatever’s left in your cheese drawer after a particularly long work week). Forceful in flavor but boasting oodles of finesse, this lovely red revs up fall evenings with elegant oak spice and luscious notes of cherry cola, blackberries and lavender. What’s not to fall for?
Dinner just got interesting: The days are getting shorter, which means we’re eating earlier! That’s not necessarily a bad thing, especially when you have this well-balanced Eberle red wine waiting for the corkscrew. At first sip, savor strawberries, blackberries, and raspberries. Upon further investigation, enjoy delicate hints of rose petals, violets, dried herbs, with a touch of spice. Pair this medium bodied red blend with a lamb burger topped with Feta, Chilean sea bass with a cherry tomato butter sauce, or a bowl of hearty beef chili. Sure, this wine is grand enough enjoyed on its own—but why in the world would you choose to deprive yourself?
Ripe now, brown cow: Working up an appetite this fall? Go for a bold wine that calls out for an equally hearty meal. Our recommendation: this luxurious Bordeaux style blend, comprised of excellent estate-grown cabernet sauvignon bolstered by a dash of merlot. Oozing with juicy, ready-to-pluck dark fruit flavors, we can hardly think of a meatier red to pair with your next fall feast. We say, heighten this already decadent Autumnal experience when you grill up some Oso Libre’s pasture raised estate beef, available at the tasting room now. This premium meat begins on the winery’s 65 acre pasture and ends on your plate, dripping in its own savory juices (OK, now we’re getting super hungry now).
Nostalgia never tasted so good: Like taking a big whiff inside your grandpa’s old cigar box, Jada wines bring back warm and fuzzy seasonal memories of yore. Made from 100% tannat, this inky wine boasts a bouquet of black and blue fruits, espresso, ground herbs, worn leather, liquid violets, and pepper sure to conjure up pleasant Autumn memories you’d almost forgotten. Aged in 48% new French oak and 30% once-used French oak, you’ll find a full-bodied wine with smooth, mouth-coating layers that linger on and on (not unlike those afternoons you crashed through fallen leaves as a kid).
A special occasion, indeed: Make more out of the simple moments when you reach for a festive reserve red that brings everyone together this fall.Aged 20 months in 50% new French oak and 50% once-used French oak, this 100% Rangeland Wines cabernet sauvignon offering opens with aromas of dried flowers followed by polished tannins, and, finally, flavors of cocoa, thyme, and raspberry. A truly age-worthy offering, you could uncork the bottle this holiday season, gift it to a worthy loved one or stash it in your cellar for years to come. Can’t wait a moment longer? Open long before serving to ensure maximum pleasure. An added plus? This wine will looks lovely sitting in a glass decanter (and even acts as a celebratory conversation starter).
