Plan Your 2020 Spring Break in Paso Robles Wine Country

When it comes to Spring Break planning, we could all use a little help. Instead of wondering where you’ll take those precious vacation days, allow us to reveal the plan, right down to the transport, lodging and activities! Spring Break 2020 is your chance to live it up in Paso Robles Wine Country. Don’t miss your moment! Experience the sights, the fun and the flavor, down to the very last drop. Yes, this is your golden opportunity to experience world class wines in an unforgettable setting. Break out the flip flops and make a run for the hills. Your dream itinerary awaits.

1. How to Fly or Drive Paso Robles

Wow, that was easy! Conveniently located midway between San Francisco and Los Angeles, Paso Robles Wine Country is closer than you think. With more direct flights arriving daily at nearby San Luis Obispo Regional Airport, you could be just a few hours from enjoying Spring Break amidst the vines. Ride the rails with Amtrak and take in the gorgeous scenery, including the Central Coast of California’s breathtaking coastline, beautiful at sunrise or sunset. Once you arrive, get ready for warm hospitality like you’ve never experienced before. Expect short lines, zero traffic, friendly tasting room staff and a general sense of well being. Howdy, partner. You’re on your way to becoming a local.

2. Pick your passion

Sky’s the limit. Whether you prefer red, white rose or a craft cocktail, Paso Robles Wine Country is the best place to quench your thirst for adventure this Spring Break. There are dozens of varietals growing in Paso Robles Wine Country, and each grape has it’s own distinct charm. Encounter 18 different varietals at ONX Wines, known for pushing the envelope and crafting unique blends. Located in Tin City, a former warehouse district now home to dozens of colorful epicurean delights, the ONX tasting room offers sensory experiences that incorporate a blind tasting of five sumptuous selections. Yes, all this diversity at one single tasting room! Better get used to it. With more than 300 wineries to choose from in Paso Robles, including breweries and distilleries too, your Paso Robles flavor adventure is truly of the “choose-your-own” variety.

3. Eat like you mean it

No, it’s not a dream: many Paso Robles tasting rooms feature elegant culinary offerings, too. No, we’re not just talking about a cheese plate (although those are quite nice). Whether you stop in at Parrish Family Vineyard, JUSTIN, Villa San Juliette, Opolo, Cello at Allegretto Vineyard Resort or Cass Winery, expect not just a fabulous lineup of wines, but also a sit-down restaurant style dining experience. From small plates to full-on entrees, you’ll come hungry and leave inspired. Itching to drool over a few menus unfolding this spring? Click here and eat your heart out. Tip: Don’t forget the locally grown olive oil, another Paso Robles Wine Country staple! Taste a range of extra virgin olive oil samples—from grassy to buttery—at Pasolivo’s downtown tasting room or at the scenic ranch, where you can take a farm tour while you nibble. Rio Seco Winery and Dubost Ranch Winery also have some of our fave extra-virgin olive oil made from their estate olive trees.

4. Lay of the land

See the bigger picture. Before you embark on your Spring Break adventure in Paso Robles, inspect the map (click here for a free downloadable map that we can promise will come in very handy). Notice the distinct wine trails, each with its own specialty. Highway 46 West, which snakes through Templeton to the coast, features breezy tasting rooms offering all manner of experiences (Tooth and Nail Winery, housed in a storybook castle is known for its robust live music and events schedule). The wineries of Highway 46 East are nestled in Paso’s dusty and authentic agricultural region (stop by Bodega de Edgar, known for passionate Spanish varietals). Downtown tasting rooms have their own allure, thanks to easy walkability and close proximity to boutique shopping and award winning restaurants (Hoyt Family Vineyards is as must-see downtown stop, featuring expressive wines grown from Malibu to Monterey). Worried about keeping it all straight, even when you’re out of cell range? No worries.  Get driving directions that stay on your phone, even if you lose service! Tip: Leave all the pesky driving to a professional and check out these awesome transportation and tour offerings.
