5 Paso Robles Tasting Rooms to Fit any Personality

When it comes to birthday cake, vacation itineraries and panty hose, one thing’s for certain: One-size-fits-all is never a good thing. Well, in Paso Robles, there is no “one size fits all” tasting experience! In fact, we pride ourselves in offering up a diversity of discoveries—not hard to do when you’re home to more than 250 stellar tasting rooms. Whether you think of yourself as laid back, sophisticated or on the quirky side, there’s a Paso Robles tasting room with your name on it. Here’s 5 fresh tasting rooms to strike your fancy this summer!

The quirky one: Chronic Cellars

Be as weird as you want to be. Chronic Cellars is known for its vibrant Día de los Muertos inspired labels and tongue-in-cheek names (case in point: the hilarious Sofa Kind Bueno and El Perfecto). That’s not to say this now iconic Paso Robles tasting room isn’t also known for crafting incredibly delicious wines, they just want you to know that they use only the best a.k.a. “chronic” grapes around. The wine tasting experience reflects this playful vibe: lawn games, a billiard table and an open-minded clientele all make for a unique and hip hangout. Expect a totally chill atmosphere with these are lots of character (and oodles of sass). What else would you expect from a brand that was started by two surfer/winemaker brothers?

Whoop! Take a virtual tour of Chronic!

The nature lover: Dubost Wine

Get lost and love it. There’s nothing like taking a long, leisurely trip through Paso’s winding hillsides, stopping at pastoral tasting rooms and breathing in that fresh, summer air. Dubost is exactly this kind of heaven, offering up a tucked-away tasting room surrounded by oak trees, lush vineyards and local wildlife. Stop by the delightfully rural grounds for a relaxed outdoor tasting served alongside weekend sizzling wood-fired pizza (and feel free to bring your pooch, too). The family-owned winery is all about preserving Paso’s history, born at the intersection of wine and agriculture. Oh, and what a tasting pairing they do make!

Wines worth waiting for: Sip a curated collection of world class wines while taking in breathtaking views at Sextant Wines in Paso Robles and you’ll soon understand why so many folks leave with multiple bottles in hand. Home to refined, sophisticated wines that shine with the terroir of the region (Paso Robles and Edna Valley, respectively) you’ll want to keep a few of these bad boys on hand for years to come. Luckily, Sextant wines are known to blossom beautifully over time! Whether you have a legit wine cellar or just a cupboard dedicated to collectible wines, there’s always room for one more.

The Adventurer: Eberle Winery

Go forth and sip boldly: Founded by a pioneering Paso winemaker Gary Eberle, this legendary tasting room welcomes in adventurous spirits of all kinds. Famous for its fascinating wine caves located (yes) underground, Eberle serves up classic Paso Robles wines that are infinitely drinkable, no matter what cuisine—or company—you keep. Traverse the barrel-studded wine caves or just kick back on the deck with a few partners in crime. Either way, you’re never far from your next scintillating sip!

The romantic: Pelletiere Estate

La Dolce Vida: Bellissimo! Vino! Say it in Italian and you suddenly sound so sultry, right? The folks at Pelletiere know this to be true, but they also know that wine crafted without passion is a poor substitute for pleasure.  Home to luxurious Italian varietals, this romantic tasting room offers up a serene sun-warmed outdoor patio overlooking the vineyards, perfect for reconnecting with that old flame or flirting with a new one (hey, we won’t judge). Looking for action? Fall for a fascinating vineyard tour, ready to whisk you through enchanting vines. Better kiss your heart goodbye right now!
