There is a huge tent festival on Saturday March, 15th in downtown Paso Robles where you bring your ticket and pick up your glass.  Wineries feature the best Zinfandels and a variety of “wild” alternatives to let you try something out of the box from Paso wine country.  There are food vendors along the street and little tastings of savory bits here and there to go with the deep Zins California is known for.

Out of downtown you can go exploring on Tasting Trails, sit down and stay at your favorite winery, or hop on a tour bus or limo to take you wherever they decide!  On our mobile site: www.geo.to/Paso it will show you where each winery is, give you mapping, let you know what events they have currently, give you a place to write down your tasting notes, and take you on custom Tasting Trails!  It will also tell you the best places to eat..because you have to eat when you drink yummy Zin…best entertainment spots and great lodging deals!

Some of the local hook ups sound really fun and different.  Here are a few for you to check out during ZinFest.

Our dinner this year will be a tribute to chef charlie trotter who sadly passed away earlier this year.

Trotter burst on the scene in 1987, when the self-taught chef opened Charlie Trotter’s restaurant on Armitage Avenue. In short order, the chef’s intense creativity and never-repeat-a-dish dictum made Trotter’s the most talked-about restaurant in Chicago, and his fame quickly spread throughout the country and beyond.
He was named the country’s Outstanding Chef by James Beard Foundation in 1999; in 2000, Wine Spectator magazine called Trotter’s the best restaurant in the nation. More awards and accolades followed, including a 2002 Beard Award for Outstanding Service; at the time, Trotter called it the award he was most proud to receive, as it represented “a team award.”
The mercurial chef was a stern taskmaster who demanded the absolute best from everyone who worked for him. He was also a man of uncommon generosity, creating the Charlie Trotter Education Foundation to provide scholarships for culinary students. He received the James Beard Foundation’s Humanitarian of the Year award in 2012.
Members $100, non- members $115, tax not included.
