Wine & ART | Paso Robles Guide to the Culture

Sculpture by John Jagger at SculpterraTouring through Paso Robles, CA in addition to the amazing array of wines there are a large population of local artists that grace the grounds and walls of the tasting rooms and gardens.  There are also local festivals, studios and art galleries that support the wine community with tasting, featured wineries and coupons or tasting cards to go to other places.  Throw in some live music and a little bit of catered food and you have a fun, cultural and satisfying experience.

To start your cultured art tour of Paso Robles it is good to look into wineries on your trail that feature art to see or to purchase.  Many wineries feature local painters, sculptors and artisans in their tasting room boutiques or on the grounds.  One of the most popular and well photographed is Sculpterra winery that features a large sculpture garden outside to view the art of Dale Evers, John Jagger and Robert Bentley as well as visiting artists and performers.  Inside the tasting room you can purchase miniatures of the sculptures, replicas in merchandise or take home a bottle of your favorite wine with one of the sculptures on the label. You can get directions and hours open HERE.

Another way to experience the art and wine culture in Paso Robles is going to the monthly Art After Dark which is always on the first Saturday of every month from 6-9 pm.  The shops open later, wine is flowing in tasting rooms and galleries and the art is on display sometimes with the artists present to talk about their work and inspiration.  You can check out the dates and info HERE.

Lastly you can visit the wonderful art festivals or art gallery showings in the downtown Paso Robles area.  Many artists are featured at Studios at the Park which a non profit organization helping the local artist community as well as offering benefits and education.  They often feature art shows, wine tasting and live music for a great walk through meeting the artists themselves and sometimes seeing them in action.

Art Festivals are more sparse and can be seasonal but there is a great one coming up on Memorial Day weekend on May 24th called Paso Artsfest!  It will feature artists, performers, music, food and wine!  And…it’s free!  The main event is hosted at the downtown Paso Robles Park where you can bid on an auctioned piece of art created that day, purchase or see many of the artists booth exhibitions, and much more.  You can check out all the artists and event info HERE.

It is great to see so much community love and spirit go into the wine and art scene and I know that is why Paso Robles is not only such a popular place to visit because of its wine, but the fantastic beauty and culture surrounding it making up the people who live here.
