Are you an eater, a taster, or a total behind-the-scenster? Interested in mingling with lots of likeminded wine aficionados in a crowded barrel room or just want to roam the vineyards with a small pack of savvy tour-goers? It’s nearly Harvest Wine Weekend in Paso Robles Wine Country (Oct. 19-21), when the curtain is lifted back and we all get to see just what goes into each and every bottle. Cheers to the season and plan to attend one of these exciting Harvest events. Consider this part 2 of our previous post (we could post about Harvest Wine Weekend all month). With hundreds of wineries throwing all kinds of shindigs, there’s a perfectly delicious event for everyone to enjoy.
1. Island vibes
Date: Oct. 19; 6-9 p.m.
Cass Winery in Paso Robles knows how to party! Join the winery for a whole pig roast with all the Hawaiian fixins: Island slaw, macaroni salad, coconut rice, luau cake and more (Cass Estate Wines and coffee service included with dinner). Served buffet style, expect a laid back experience teaming with different walks of life (Cass is a popular hangout for locals and tourists). We love this picturesque time of year at Cass, and we’re ready to kick up our heels and enjoy live music by The Blimp Pilots. How about you? Put on your dancing boots (or a pair of flip flops) and come take a spin around the scenic outdoor dance floor. Extra points for hula dance moves.

Lay on the cheese, and then some. Chronic Cellars has teamed up with Vivant Fine Cheese to give you the ultimate wine and cheese pairing experience. Why mess with a classic? Stop by the Paso Robles tasting room anytime during Harvest Fest weekend on October 19-21 and enjoy newly released wines paired to cheesy perfection (your tasting fee also includes a pretty glass to take home). On Saturday, try out barrel samples poured by winemaker Josh Beckett. Plus, the whole family can join in on the fun at Chronic Cellars with complimentary pumpkin carving on Saturday and Sunday while supplies last. This is one weekend the kids and adults can agree on!

3. Classic Cave Feast

Enter the Eberle Winery Cave for a quintessential Paso Robles food and wine experience. Featuring illustrious Chef Dakota Weiss of Los Angeles, this event is likely to sell out fast, so act now to get on the wait list. Since being named “Best New Chef” by Angeleno magazine in 2006 as the Executive Chef at Jer-ne at the Ritz-Carlton Marina Del Rey, Dakota Weiss has become tour-de-force in Los Angeles’ culinary community. In 2011, Dakota appeared on Bravo’s “Top Chef Texas,” while that same year she joined forces with Alan Nathan of Choice Hospitality Group, who recruited Dakota to helm its W Los Angeles – Westwood restaurants NINETHIRTY and The Backyard. Needless to say, Eberle is working up a dinner and wine pairing you’ll never forget. (Photo by @kimfoxphoto)
