Red wine, white wine, and blue skies can only mean one thing. It’s nearing the 4th of July Weekend in Paso Robles Wine Country! Celebrate Independence Day with vibrant community events, funky tasting room shindigs, and more smoky barbecue than you can shake a wine thief at. This year, Paso Robles is gearing up for more family friendly fun than ever. Get ready for fireworks—in the sky and in your glass.
1. Paso Pops at the Paso Robles Event Center
When: Thursday, July 4 at 4 p.m.
Where: Paso Robles Event Center
Razzle dazzle for the whole family. Celebrate the Fourth in style with Paso Robles’ annual patriotic concert and Independence Day celebration. The Paderewski Festival-sponsored event combines wine, beer, food, family friendly activities, live music, and…drumroll please…fireworks! Expect patriotic themed music headlined by the San Luis Obispo Symphony. Don’t miss carnival rides for small children and food trucks (yes, you can also bring a picnic if you wish). Sip on more than 30 local wines, including fresh Rhone varieties provided by Cass Winery, while the kids and grandparents alike have a ball. This may be the easiest family decision you make all summer.

Nosh on food provided by Hurricane Kitchen food truck and come early to stake out the perfect spot on the lush lawn. Low back lawn chairs and blankets are recommended and children and friendly pets are also welcome—so bring the whole clan! You can even kick off your shoes and feel the grass between your toes. This, my friends, is one of life’s most joyful simple pleasures. Don’t let the summer pass without experiencing it!

Enjoy a famously pink Paso Robles sunset on Seven Oxen’s beautiful new patio during the winery’s extended summer hours every first Saturday of the month all season long. Savor grub from the winery’s featured food truck of the month and sip Seven Oxen wines by the glass. You’ll especially want to try a bottle of the winery’s 2013 Zinfandel, which smacks of ripe black fruit and subtle vanilla. Although it pairs well with those ribs you’re eyeing right now, it will only develop in character over the next three years. Cheers to all the summer barbecues to come!
