Paso Robles Wineries Off the Beaten Path Wine Trail – Part One > Check out Part Two

Are you ready to take a little adventure and see some wineries from a broad perspective out in the country?  Do you look for wineries that have a unique experience to offer as well as exquisite wine to taste?  Well we have a great wine trail for you that is ‘Off the Beaten Path’.  These wineries have a unique draw to them, beautiful scenery and an intimate wine tasting experience with education and full detail.  This first part of the series will go over the first five wineries we suggest for this excursion while the second half will go over five more we adore.  So get in your adventure-time mode and set off to these following destinations!

1. August Ridge Vineyards

Paso Robles Wineries Off the Beaten Path Wine Trail - Part One

Directions and Info: geo.to/augustridgevineyards

August Ridge is located in Creston just 15 minutes from Paso Robles and it is on the top of a hill overlooking hills and valleys of beautiful vines and trees.  The drive out is so peaceful and open with country and pastures, ranches and other wineries on the way.  A part of the Creston wine loop there is a great community of support and they do lots of events such as wine blending parties, food pairings, barrel tastings and educational classes.  Their wine is authentic Italian varietals and it pairs perfectly with the delicious Italian food they serve with it and my favorite is the 2008 Jovial!  This is worth the trek off the beaten path!

2. Rangeland Wines

Paso Robles Wineries Off the Beaten Path Wine Trail - Part One

Directions and Info: geo.to/rangeland

Rangeland wines is an experience that you don’t forget as far as excursions go.  You make an appointment and they let you into their awesome ranch where you can tour the winery, their land, taste their excellent wines and even tour their sheep and cattle areas where they produce local grass fed meats.  They have Rose’ and a great selection of reds, my favorite being the 2011 GSM.  They educate you on the land and why the wines come out the way they do, you get to play with their very nice ranch dogs, and have a very homey and intimate tasting.

3. Windward Vineyard

Paso Robles Wineries Off the Beaten Path Wine Trail - Part One

Directions and Info: geo.to/windwardvineyard

Windward is the land of the Pinot!  To come out to this beautiful place you get a gorgeous drive, serene surroundings and when you walk in there is art on the walls and a peaceful atmosphere.  The Pinots are exclusively made from Paso Robles grapes and it has really made an impact on Pinot lovers everywhere.  My favorite was the 2011 Monopole Pinot Noir.  Very delicious and a great stop on adventure-time!

4. Hope Family Vineyard

Paso Robles Wineries Off the Beaten Path Wine Trail - Part One

Directions and Info: geo.to/hopefamilywines

Hope Family wines have something for everyone.  This is a beautiful area with a very cool tasting room inside, several labels for each style and budget and a great experience with the staff.  Many walk away wine club members and everyone is pleasantly surprised when they walk in and see how the architecture is done.  There are five labels and my favorite is the Treana Red which is a delicious blend.  This place is a treasure and should not be missed!

5. Jack Creek Cellars

Paso Robles Wineries Off the Beaten Path Wine Trail - Part One

Directions and Info: geo.to/jackcreekcellars

Jack Creek Cellars has a beautiful tasting room right in the middle of beautiful vineyards and vast countryside.  They have a great assortment of varietals such as Rose’, Chardonnay, Pinots, Grenache and Syrahs.  My favorite was the 2013 “Glow” Rose’ mixed with Grenache and Syrah.  They have a lovely picnic area outside where you can take in the surroundings or you can taste inside the simple and open tasting room where you feel like you are a part of the winery as well!
